SEASHORE COLLECTION

All of these paintings are essentially still life observational paintings but with a pattern-like feel with subtle layers of handmade mulberry papers, acrylic paint and metallic highlights.

I was working with my year 7 students creating work inspired by the techniques of the artist Gustav Klimt and how he observed nature and people but added highly decorative and patterned backgrounds, and I had the idea to create the ‘Pink Shell’ painting. I wanted the patterns to be dictated by the form of the object themselves and extended all the lines I drew to create a multi-facetted pattern. I then developed this idea into a series of paintings based on the seashore.

Although they have been sold commissions on a similar vein are welcomed. I also hope to produce a range of hand finished prints on canvas from this series so please ask to be put on my mailing list if you are interested and I will let you know as soon as they are available.
